CEP812 Intro

  1. Hi there neighbor=8-) Holt is just a hop, skip and jump down the expressway from where I'm located. I love the fact that you are incorporating what you have learned in your CEP classes in your classroom practices. Is there any one technology that really fascinates you? One you would like to use with your students? Beautiful family! Thank you for sharing the snapshots of your classroom with the class.

  2. Steve,

I'm very intrigued by the fact that you don't use a textbook. There is a sense of freedom just in hearing that! A part of me does appreciate the structure that a textbook provides though. Do you create all of your own materials? or have some other resources you use? Why don't you use a textbook? How do the kids respond? haha, sorry, so many questions! I look forward to some of the answers and to working with you as the class progresses!

  3. Hi Steve!
Great job on your video! You seem to be very busy right now with school, family and all these grad classes. I knew a few people that did their intern year at Holt and they said the same thing about the textbook. How do you like not using a textbook? I could see it being great at sometimes but also a LOT of work. I feel that we use the textbook TOO much sometimes at my school and I am interested to hear how you like not using it. I am sure we will get to chat more in our group with the project so I look forward to working with you and hearing more about you!

  4. Steve,

Like Laura, I am intrigued by the fact that you don't use a textbook. But even more, I think I'm a little bit nervous by it. It stresses me out a little bit, but that's probably a bad sign on my behalf! Is this something that the entire school/district does or what you're piloting? HHow do the students adjust from one year having a math book to the next year not at all? I'd be interested in hearing what that is like for them. Sorry this post is a little late, I neglected to post on everyones videos after watching them the first time. You have a beautiful family and I wish you the best of luck with the rest of this class and all of your teaching endeavors!
